What a blessing to have all the grandparents and great grandparents come to visit us at school. It was a very special day and the kids were so happy to see their grandparents. Thank you to all who made the effort to come. We played some math games, showed off some of our work, played a bingo game, read some books and just spent time together. Please share these pictures with your family. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am very thankful for all I am blessed with, including your very special children!

Tree Planting
May I introduce you to…
Donut & KA
Before school started we spotted the men from the tree nursery delivering the trees and digging the holes. We went outside to watch for a bit.
We listened to a short presentation from Angela, John and Chip. Poor guy ~ when Chip told the kids his name, they got the giggles and couldn't stop laughing. He was a good sport about it though and took the comments about "chocolate chips" and "a bag of chips" with a grain of salt. I bet if you showed them this picture and asked your child his name, most or ALL of the students will remember. :)
Getting prepared with our hard hats.
Working hard to fill the hole with dirt.
Getting down and dirty!
Found lots of earthworms.
Not sure how this happened, but we played a game where I was a tree and then we had a circle of students who were the bark, then a circle of leaves and those crawling on the ground are roots and they were allowed to grab my legs and ankles. All the sudden we had every student wanting to be the roots. :)
We played a game with KB in which one class was a power line and the other class was trees. If the trees were too close to the power line they needed to be cut down.
These three girls received a brand new book of The Lorax. The students who had the closest birthday to today received the book. What a nice gesture! We had a great afternoon and can't wait to watch our trees grow as WE grow through elementary school!
