DOT day!!!!
Today we celebrated Dot Day based off of the book written by Peter Reynolds, "The Dot" about making your mark on the world. Below are some of the activities we participated in. We started off by using coffee filters that we colored with markers and sprayed with water to see the colors bleed into each other.
For math we had some "dot" cereal and we counted down as we ate them until we got to "zero" which we learned also meant NONE LEFT.
We explored a very cool app in which you color a picture, use the app on the ipad and the image pops out in 3D. They had a special coloring page made specifically for dot day, so we enjoyed seeing our very own image pop out!!!! Here is a link to the app ~ Colar Mix (If you look carefully at the pictures you can see on the ipads the kids' drawings.)
We ended the day in our friendship groups getting to know each other, decorating a wristband and making a "dot" poster. What a fun day we had!!!!
Misc.
Playing catch up on the ole' blog with some misc. pictures I have taken.
The first week we had a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom theme and during math we cut out triangles and trapezoids to make a coconut tree.
Using our fine motor skills to tear tiny pieces of paper to fill our names like a rainbow.
We will be tie dying our t-shirts on Friday. Last week we met a 5th grade friend who helped us rubber band our shirts, then read us a story.
Rylee brought us in a very special treat last week ~ APPLES from her tree.
Pam Holtz also visited us last week and read to us a story about animal skeletons.
